cookbooks do an excellent impression of something straight forward until the indexer realizes they must balance space restraints with the number of ways someone might look for a recipe called ‘Yummy Mocha Delight.’

In fact, I just encountered a cookbook index so useless that no one in Pleasantville would lay claim to it. The book shall remain nameless but suffice to say that if I were indexing “Risotto with Scallops and Peas” – it would appear more than once.
